Labor of Loaf
Recipes are most commonly found in the form of ordered lists, a series of steps that guide the reader to the desired outcome. What if instead of with words, such steps are communicated with sets of icons?
The challenge of this project was to create a visual system that communicates the process by which an eight strand plaited loaf is made. Concepts including visual hierarchy, color, design style and semiotics were explored extensively. Once established, the visual system was applied to a digital format, allowing for the user to easily navigate through the recipe's steps.
